What is JCL?

The Junior Classical League (JCL) is an organization of nearly 50,000 middle and high school students interested learning about and from the Classical civilizations of Greece and Rome. Members of the league come from many places over the world, but most are found in the US. JCL is sponsored by the American Classical League.

What about NDJCL?

The North Dakota JCL is branch of the national JCL that operates in the state of North Dakota. At last count, the NDJCL had over 400 members.

How can I join JCL?

You can contact your local JCL chapter, which is typcially run by a local Latin or Greek teacher. If you are unable to do so, contact the National JCL at njcl.org.

Does it cost anything to join?

Unfortunately, there is a small fee required to join JCL to help pay for operating costs. Although fees vary from location to location, they are usually around $5 per person.

Why in the name of Zeus would I pay to join?

Everyone can find something that they like in JCL. Activities include arts, academics, athletics, and many more. See our events page for more details. Even if none of those strike your fancy, you can still get to hang around with some of the best people you will ever have the pleasure to meet. Plus there's something that sounds impressive about "Member of the Junior Classical League" on a college application.

Who runs the league?

NDJCL is run by an executive board of annually elected student officers. The current officers can be found here.
